How our body is like our car

Uncategorized Jan 05, 2018

Growing up most of us learned if we wanted our cars to run well we needed to maintain them.

When I learned to drive in the 80’s there were no cell phones so even if you had a towing service it didn’t really do much good unless you were close enough to the illusive call box on the side of the road or a good Samaritan stopped to help.
Not only was it inconvenient to break down or run out of gas before cell phones, but you were pretty sure you’d get a lecture when you got home about the importance of “maintaining your vehicle”.

It is even more important to maintain our permanent vehicle, our body.
We will have our body with us our entire life with no trade-in option available. And how we treat it will determine how it runs.

Bodies operate on nutrients, including macronutrients and micronutrients as well as phytonutrients, enzymes and water. Our body needs all these raw materials in proper amounts to grow, heal and recover.

In recent years there has been a sharp rise in many chronic illnesses including allergies, autoimmune diseases, autism, Alzheimer’s, depression, anxiety, cancer and so many others.

Chronic illness can often be directly related to 1 of 2 things:

1) Not enough of the good things the body needs to build and repair. This includes properly prepared nutrient dense food, strong digestion, minerals, good bacteria, healthy fats and sufficient hydration.

2) Too much of the bad things that cause damage, toxicity and inflammation in the body.
This can include things like foods that cause inflammation, carcinogens and chemicals, stress, and even toxic relationships.

Chronic disease is not due to a deficiency in pharmaceutical drugs.
It does seem however that the standard mainstream answer seems to be more and more pharmaceutical drugs that manage symptoms (and then more drugs to manage the symptoms from the first drug) but never get to the root of the problem.

And although most are not deficient in pharmaceutical drugs, most people ARE deficient in essential nutrients.

Essential nutrients are those that the body cannot make on its own, but must be obtained by either food and/or supplementation.

There are over 90 essential nutrients with the majority (over 60) of those being minerals.

Nutrient deficiencies are rampant, so much so that if there was something labeled as “nutrient deficiency disease” millions would qualify.

Nutritional deficiencies and running out of the raw materials to function properly for vibrant health is like letting the car run out of gas.
